THE BEGINNING

ZOO DE LAGOS

The idea was maturing, as Paulo (the owner) always maintained a strong bond with animals, more specifically with equines and birds.

As several visits to the Farm were requested by tourists and schools, starting this adventure of Conservation, Education and Nature Protection was a natural step. And because it is located in the Municipality of Lagos, the Zoological Park of Lagos (Zoo de Lagos) was born.

Thus, all lovers of Nature can enjoy this space of Leisure, simultaneously Educational and Conservationist.

HISTORY HOW DID THE IDEA OF BUILDING THE LAZOS ZOO HAPPEN?

Started to be built at the end of 1997, Zoo de Lagos was inaugurated on November 16, 2000, with the patronage of Maria João Abreu and José Raposo.

The design of the spaces, the movement of lands, the planting of trees, the transport of logs and stones and an extreme care in the details according to the species, made the recognition that today the Lagos Zoo enjoys, by the welfare of its animals, architectural simplicity and call to reflection.

1st of April until 30th of September 10am to 7pm
1st of October until 31st of March 10am to 5pm

Pelicans 11:30 am
Otters / Primates / Pelicans 3pm (Starting at Otters)
